Shell House Talks - Gallery - Osborne-House - Isle of Wight

Osborne House, Isle of Wight, was the summer residence of Queen Victoria. The Shell Pavilion (restored in 2017), is located in the Italianate Terrace.
She collected local shells with her children and chose the decorative style. In the Drawing-room a marble sculpture "The Cradle" depicts the infant Princess Beatrice held within a nautilus shell.
The Corridor contains a zinc statue of Venus with a gilded scallop hood. This is an exact copy of the Venus d'Arles at the Musee du Louvre.
